Saturday events

We took a day-trip out to central PA this Saturday to attend a friend's wedding (one of Janie's childhood friends!). It was a beautiful outside wedding - gorgeous weather!

Here is the happy couple - Matthew and Erin Frost!
(sorry for the blurred photo....grrr!) :p
We were able to stop in Mechanicsburg on our way to the wedding to see Jonny, Bria and Lila...and their new house! YAY! It was great to visit with them for lunch and to give these little cousins some play time together. :)

So cute to see them both with piggie-tails now!
boots and sippy cups are the best toys! ;)

What a cute family in front of their new cute home!

Ice Cream!

Meredith had her first taste of ice cream recently. Last Friday we ran errands and one of our stops was IKEA. So... of course we had to get their $1 frozen yogurt cones on our way out. :)

complete amazement!
And...then this week Baskin Robin's ran their promotional deal - 31 cents per scoop. Can't pass that up!! So, yet again we had to go. :) Meredith had tastes of chocolate, mint chip and mocha fudge!

All the profit from the Baskin Robin's 31 cent deal is given to the local fire department. The Jenkintown Fire Co. was in the parking lot, so Meredith was given a complete fire engine tour and her own yellow hat!

April project

Last week we had another side-of-the-road find...that of course we couldn't pass by without picking up. So, we hauled home seven drawers from a dresser and desk that were out by the road awaiting trash day.

Hmmm...there's got to be something cool we could make out of these...right?!?

How about a book/toy shelf for MJ's room?! Yep. :)

Easter weekend

We had a glorious Easter weekend together as a family. Erik had the day off on Friday, so the weekend felt very relaxed and long. We had friends for Easter dinner after church on Sunday, but otherwise had a very low-key few days. What a refreshment! :)

Here is our resident bunny - such a tame rabbit! I did zoom in for this photo, but he let me get very close! This is his special place in the hedge row....just as long as he stays away from our garden. So far he hasn't been tempted by the kale...

Our robin has laid her eggs! She's been sitting on her nest for long stretches and often get up to inspect her eggs. This is our close-up view from our kitchen window. :)

(And yes, I did wear navy blue for Easter. No one is sending me cute outfits every few months!) ;)

Friends and outside!

We've been having a lot of outside time this week. MJ is a huge fan of the outdoors! Erik's come home from work several days this week to find me and MJ outside on a blanket - watching robins, playing with sticks and leaves and relaxing.

So...usually Erik joins us. :)

MJ is all about facial features right now.
Nose, eyes and ears are her favorite features to touch!

Daddy is soooooo funny!

This afternoon, while Mama taught flute lessons, MJ enjoyed time outside with her 'big boy' friends, Ellis and Marlowe. They have a super cool sandbox!!

(thanks for taking this photos, Jeannette!)

That's pretty much the news this week....other than snacking on lots of cherrios! :)

Arts and Fun!

We had a busy weekend (and a bit of a busy week, which is why I'm just now getting around to putting up this post!). Our chamber ensemble, Charis Musica put on a concert at our church on Saturday. Despite the crazy storm weather, we did have a good crowd and enjoyed making music together. Then, on Sunday afternoon Erik and I had a date!! Yeah - a real date to see a ballet in Philadelphia! I had received a sweet gift from a dear friend for my birthday to get tickets for a show. So, after hearing a lot about the famous choreographer, Balanchine, I chose to go to the ballet! It was absolutely incredible - so beautiful and moving. And...now I'm addicted to seeing live ballet - I'm already looking at next season! :)

signs of spring

We've been enjoying new signs of spring each day. It's getting warmer slowly and we are thankful for more light and longer days. :)

Outside our kitchen window a robin is nesting!

Fresh spring leeks! Aren't these the most beautiful shades of green?

And...more sewing projects in the works. "sweet pea" flannel - just the thing for making baby burp cloths in the month of April (sweet pea flowers)!

Grandma and Grandpa Petersons Visit!

Last weekend, as part of MJ's birthday celebration, Erik's parents came to visit. Meredith soaked up lots of time with them both. :)

Grandparents are the best for reading stories!

We visited Briar Bush Nature Center on Friday - the drizzling weather allowed us to have the place to ourselves! We had a lovely afternoon watching birds, squirrels and meeting the other animals they had inside.
MJ's at a really fun age for tickles and giggles!

funny faces made by Mama alway get the giggles going... :)

I'm One!

April 5th - MJ turned One this morning at 12:55am. Erik and I are fondly remembering this day last year - what a joyous morning it was! This year we celebrated with Mama's special waffles. :)

One year Stats:
MJ = 21 pounds, 30 inches long
Mama = back to pre-pregnancy weight minus 10 pounds!

and...since Daddy had to work late, Mama and MJ had their own special treat after dinner.

MJ's thinking: "wow....whatever this brown stuff is...it's amazing!!!"
(This was her first experience with icing.)

Meredith loved the decorations - made especially made for her by Mama :)

Yay for pig-tails!!
