The blessing of Friends

We've had a full week of friends. :) Meredith especially has been loving it, since she's little miss social these days. Here are a few photos...

Sourdough

A sweet friend taught me how to use and maintain sourdough starter last week. Here is my bubbling starter - ready to go!!! I began with making basic rye sourdough bread.

This week I made english muffins for the first time. Very tasty!! :)

We visited the Cardillo family for a morning this week - so fun! Meredith and Micaela are sweet little friends and had a blast romping around together drawing, painting, playing in Micaela's kitchen and listening to stories. :)

early spring days

Meredith and I have been soaking up these warm early spring days with lots of outside play time. Walks at different parks have been on the docket nearly everyday for the last few weeks. Here are some photos from our romp at the Morris Arboretum this week.

sewing projects

I had a lovely "sewing day" this weekend. Erik and Meredith were busy outside in our yard all Saturday morning, so I was able to sew to my heart's content in my art room on the 3rd floor! :) Here is what came of it...

I'm into zippers now that my sweet friend taught me how to sew them a few weekends ago. So now, small scraps of material become happy little zipper pouches!! :)

MJ's new game

Erik and MJ play a game that has quickly become the favorite game of all (at this time). You can see by the videos that it is a simple and has no rules, but brings loads of laughter...and a few unexpected turn of events. The end of the second clip is one good example.

First Picnic of 2012!

This week has been absolutely gorgeous with temps in the 70s! Yesterday Meredith and I visited 4 different parks in between errands and her afternoon nap. :) At the 4th park we had a lovely picnic dinner with Daddy in the evening. What a wonderful day!!

Music, knitting, games, conversation, tea and dessert together.

Meredith followed her special friend, Vivian, all weekend. :)

Erik had fun introducing the kids to his old autoharp. By the end of Sunday, they had formed an ensemble together and were each playing a part - with Erik leading the singing! :)

Center City Philly

We enjoyed a lovely visit with our dear friends the Cockleys this weekend. They arrived Friday evening and Saturday morning we headed downtown for some city sights.

The Benjamin Franklin bridge was so elegant against the cloudy sky.
