Training for...

Meredith is already trying out different activities to figure out what she might like to do later in life. Natually, since she is still unable to talk, we have been trying to determine what these might be through her motions. So far we have seen four distinct things she is working on.

The first, and most deliberate of all, happened when she was only a week old. Sitting on her daddy's lap one morning, MJ put her hand to her forehead and thrust it out, saluting me as she looked at me right in the eye. She continued to do this six or seven times, as I (thinking she was responding to me) saluted her in return. Though we are not too enthused about her joining the army, she might just be wanting to follow our good friend Chutch's footsteps and join the army band.

The second, which MJ does frequently, is pumping her legs. We think this must be a sure sign that she will be a runner. This makes her parents very proud.

The third, while only occasional, involves waving her arm in circles. It looks just like the third base coach encouraging his player to round the base and go for home. She would make it far in baseball.

The last, for which MJ has gotten the most practice, has been her training to take the top position in the world for professional hiccuping.

If you have an idea about which one of these would best fit Meredith the best, leave you vote in the comment section below.

  1. The arm thrust thing could also prefigure conducting. A definitive down beat for the brass section way over there.

  2. I can think of a few activities I want to do with her as a baby, start by getting her onesie and nappy off
